Obituary for Donald "Mac or Poppy" McCoy

Donald Richard McCoy, also fondly known as “Poppy” or “Mac”, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the Concord NH Hospital. He was born on August 21, 1945 in Lowell, MA, the son of the late Thomas Francis Sr. and Marian E. (Muldoon) McCoy.

Donald proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, serving two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the Pelham NH Post 100 American Legion and the John H. Hargreaves Memorial VFW Post 10722.

Donald loved going camping, watching the 5X Superbowl champions New England Patriots and was a perpetual binge watcher of dumb movies and Doctor Who. He was also known as a peanut butter junkie, insisting that peanut butter was good on anything, including garlic bread. His family was his pride and joy and he loved being a grandfather and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his wife Marie Elaine McCoy, who passed away in 2003 and his brother, Thomas “Mike” Francis McCoy Jr., who passed away May of 2017.

Donald is survived by his son Donald Ryan McCoy and his wife Melanie of Hudson, sisters, Pat McCoy of Lowell, Mary and her husband Ron Bator of North Chelmsford and Ruth Fauvel and her husband Paul of Dracut, and brothers, Charlie McCoy and his wife Shelagh of Pelham and Timothy McCoy and his wife Mary Lou of Atlanta, GA. Donald also leaves behind five grandchildren, Samuel, Megan, Sara, Jonathan and Darrell, a special sister-in-law Jeannette McCoy of Pelham and many other loving extended family members.

SERVICES: Friends and family are warmly invited to attend calling hours on Monday, December 11, from 5:00PM-8:00PM at the Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St., Nashua. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, December 12 at 10:00AM, also at the Davis Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at the Gibson Cemetery, Marsh Rd., Pelham, NH. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in Donald’s name may do so to the John H. Hargreaves Memorial VFW Post 107722, 6 Main St., Pelham, NH 03076.
