Peggy had a wonderful sense of humor and I enjoyed working with her at Alvirne High School. She was a kind soul who was dedicated to her family, students and friends. Remembering her fondly, Denise Romano

Peggy was my teacher (1973), my mentor and colleague at Alvirne High School (1981-1999), my classmate at Northeastern University (1986-1989), but most importantly, my dear and cherished friend.

Peggy was a gem of a teacher and dedicated colleague. I appreciated her support and advice in my many years at Alvirne. In addition, her integrity and high ideals are a reminder of what it means to be a teacher. The Alvirne family will miss her. Jessica Levesque

I was lucky enough to have Ms. Lavoie for three years (1 year of world history, and 2 of AP American History). Ms. Lavoie was my toughest teacher, but my best and favorite teacher. It's in her classroom that I learned to become a better academic writer, to be up for the challenge of college-level writing and expectations, to write a college essay about that 2 year AP class of nine students which helped me get into a good school. I think of her every time I change "that" to "which" in reports I now review. There were so many fun memories in her classes, and tough ones too. It is in her classroom that we saw the news break on 9/11, and it was in that close-knit group of nine that we lost a friend suddenly and tragically. she was there to guide us through it and keep our education moving forward too. So many of my high school memories are tied to her and I will never forget her. Through all of those experiences, it was easy to see the care and warmth that was Ms. Lavoie, under the famously and wonderfully tough exterior.

Ms Lavoie was one of my most well remembered (and loved) teachers from Alvirne (class of '83). She could command a classroom like no one else. We were all the richer for it.

As a member of the social studies department at Alvirne High School I had the pleasure of working with Peggy Lavoie. During my tenure at Alvirne High I soon discovered Peggy to be a sharp witted dedicated professional. She was always available to students and staff alike. Alvirne High School is a better place because of Peggy Lavoie. Please accept my condolences on the loss of your loved one. You are all in my prayers. Sincerely, Dennis Boyer

My condolences go out to Miss Lavoie's family and all the others whose lives she touched. She ranks among my favorite teachers I've ever had. She was wise, funny, and made learning history both interesting and relevant. It wasn't my favorite subject in school, but I grew to appreciate it more because of her. It is hard to reflect back on my high school experiences without remembering her fondly. May she rest in peace. She's earned her wings in my eyes. Thanks for everything Miss Lavoie!

My deepest sympathy to the family of Peggy Lavoie. I served on several union negotiation teams with her and always looked forward to her wit, candor and complete knowledge of everything pertaining to Hudson's teaching staff, students, and administrators. We constantly traded comments about Alvirne High School and Hudson Memorial. She made such an impression on all who served with her. She left Hudson's teaching community a far better place than when she first began her tenure. Through her leadership, we all reaped the benefits she fought so hard to put in place. May she rest in peace.

To the family of Ms Lavoie, I am very sorry for your loss. "Aunt Peg" was a wonderful teacher and person who touched the lives of thousands of students. I feel very fortunate to have had her as an educator and a friend. John Wajda (AHS 93)

I was sorry to learn of Peggy's passing. She was an outstanding teacher who was dedicated to her students and to Alvirne. The students loved her. Teaching was her life. She was a strong advocate for her profession which her colleagues appreciated. Peggy's influence and contributions to her school went beyond the classroom as she was involved in numerous extracurricular activities over the years. Administratively speaking, Peggy was highly respected as she was a pleasure and fun to work with. I wish I had been aware that she had been in a Nursing Home as I would have loved to visit her. We last spoke a few years ago when I visited the Lavoie farm. My prayers go out to her family, may she Rest In Peace.
