Obituary for Mary Morton (Lynady)

Mary R. Morton, age 69, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on October 30, 2017 after a long battle against Corticobasal Degeneration. Mary was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother (Aba), sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She and her husband, Doug, were married for 48 years. Through the years, they built their life in several different communities, with much of their time spent in Westford, MA, Nashua, NH, and Damariscotta, ME.

Mary loved her family more than anything else in the world. She was a caregiver to all children. She especially enjoyed spending time with her own children, her numerous nieces and nephews, and her grandchildren: Grace, Ben, Tess and Katie. Mary was the organizer of family gatherings. Holidays were celebrated with home cooked meals, joyful noise, and pies made with her famous pie crust.

Jobs as Administrative Assistant for the Planning Board & Conservation Commission and the Board of Selectmen at Westford Town Hall in the 1980s gave Mary much joy and made it nearly impossible for her to run a “quick errand” in town. It seemed as though she knew everyone. Her children fondly remember that a stop at the store would almost always include her running into a friend and taking time to chat in the grocery aisle. Later, she made many friends while working as an Administrative Assistant at Digital/Compaq/HP. She retired from Veryfine/Sunny Delight, Littleton, MA in 2011.

Mary’s family will remember her love of puzzles, sewing, crime dramas, and quilting.

Many of her best days were spent on Biscay Pond in Damariscotta, ME with friends and family. Summer boat rides, lupines, Scrabble on the dock, and laughing with friends & family were some of her favorite things.

A devastating brain disease took Mary from us memory by memory, bit by bit for years. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Cure PSP at https://www.psp.org/iwanttolearn/cbd/
The Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St. is in charge of arrangements.
